| Age 82, a lifelong resident of Westford, & retired electrical engineer, died on Sun., Jan. 13, 2008 in Chelmsford following a brief illness. He was the devoted father of Phyllis Hughes of Washington DC; husband of the late Phyllis (Harnden) Hughes, son of the late Thomas A. Hughes Sr. & Gertrude (Saucier) Hughes. He was born and raised in Westford, and a long time communicant of St. Catherine of Alexandria Church in Westford. He served in the US Navy during WWII, as a radio operator. Thomas was a man of many interests and talents, and was very active in the community; he was an avid bridge player & participated in tournaments locally & throughout New England, an avid Ham-Radio Operator, charter member of the Police Amateur Radio Team (PART); member of the Knights of Columbus, Westford Sportmen's Club, past commander of the VFW in Westford. Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday at the Healy Funeral Home 57 North Main St. WESTFORD MA from 3 until 7 PM. Funeral Thursday morning with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church in Westford at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. Catherine Cemetery.
